Thank God for Trump!

Paris, May 7, 2025. By Socrates George Kazolias

Donald Trump is doing the world a great service. He has pulled back the curtain which had hidden from view for those in the West the true, evil, nature of the United States for all to see. At last, they understand what those on the receiving end of ‘America’s good will’ have known for decades.

I thought we shared common values,” said Roger (pronounced Ro-jay). “What is wrong with Americans?” the retired, well-read and highly educated French engineer asked me. “How could they elect such an ass like that?

What values are those?” I asked.

Grasping for Symbols

Roger is one of the last holdouts in my French crowd who still believed the myth of “American democracy” as the shining light on the hill and the “indispensable nation” to quote Madeleine Albright. If you remember she is the Secretary of State who famously said an embargo which killed over 500,000 Iraqi children and elderly was an acceptable price to pay.

Albright’s statement was one of those occasions when even democrats let down their sugar coated guard to tell blatant truths on whose interests they were really representing. One would think the 2016 fiat imposition of Hillary Clinton and the 2024 insider coup against Biden to impose Kamala Haris should have dispelled any illusions about democracy chez les Democrats and the true power of the oligarchs.

Roger is of that post-World War Two generation who saw American GIs as those handing out chocolates to kids but didn’t see them mass rape German mothers in front of their children in the bomb shelters of Stuttgart.

Swept under the rug are the fire bombings of Dresden and Tokyo, the deliberate targeting of civilians, the use of atomic bombs.

He conveniently forgets the mass murder of Vietnamese farmers and the hundreds of military covert actions against nations who challenged America’s imperial will.1

Apartheid & Genocide

What values are those, Roger?

Prison Chain Gangs still exist. A modern form of slavery.

I told him I grew up in a country that practiced Apartheid, known as Jim Crow. I told him how Dad once took a wrong turn, and we ended up in a beach and camping site in Mississippi reserved from Blacks only. They were as shocked and surprised as we were, and Dad made a hasty exit.

I told Roger that Dad, who landed on Omaha Beach although not yet a US citizen, and who tanned very darkly, had to open his trousers on the Army Bus at Fort Polk to show he was White so they wouldn’t make him sit at the back.

I told Roger that, in the 1970s, during forced integration of schools through busing, the Klu Klux Klan recruited more Whites in the North, such as the Irish Catholics of Boston who stoned buses carrying Black children to White schools.

I grew up with movies and series glorifying the mass murder of Indians and painting them as uncivilized, not quite fully human.

Our much loved Founding Fathers were slave owners. But many wanted to end slavery, (the international slave trade was banned in the US in 1800)2 not to free the Blacks, but to send them back to Africa to assure that the United States would be a country of Whites.3

War, War, War

Of course, I don’t believe the US had any business in the European’s Wars, including WWI & WWII. US interventions were to assure the profits of American Banks and industrialists and advance American imperial interests to the detriment of the European Empires. FDR and his cabal also did everything they could to provoke Japan into a war for control of Asia, including an oil and steel embargo.

America began planning its post-World War Two rule of the world as early as 1939. It was a racist, segregated country where Blacks found it hard to vote but easy to get lynched or sent to prison. A country where Hollywood celebrated the genocide of the indigenous peoples.

What values are you talking about, Roger?

In the hundreds of wars and coups the US has carried out since 1945, millions of people have died, millions more lost home and family. That Zionists have played a major role in the circles of US power since FDR should surprise nobody. Their behavior today is not new. It has been in the DNA of their colonialist project since its conception.

The Secessionist War was not fought to free the slaves. Lincoln made that clear on many occasions4 and few northern Whites were less racist than their southern adversaries and bretheren. Lincoln would do anything to ‘Preserve the Union,’ including getting 750,000 Americans killed and allowing the South to keep their slaves.

America creates myths to justify its crimes and wars. Thanks to Hollywood and other soft-power tools, they managed to convince many Europeans too. It is hard to learn your lessons when you are taught lies.

If ever America’s true values were on display, it was in IndoChina. The Americans learned little from Vietnam.

This Didn’t Begin on Oct. 7

What about October 7th,” Roger asks, almost out of the blue.

What happened on October 6th and every day before that, Roger?” I respond. A full third of Biden’s cabinet had Israeli citizenship. Trump’s administration doesn’t even try to sugar coat their ‘Israel First’ agenda. A country which committed so many war crimes and crimes against humanity itself in history doesn’t seem to have a problem backing another.5

Of course, the first reaction to this is an accusation of “antisemitism.” Many of the privileged in the West still don’t see which way the wind is blowing. But with the curtains fallen, they have lost their bearings and are clutching at symbols. They believe we had values. “No Roger. We had privilege.”

The ‘democratic countries’ of France and Britain were one-in-the-same as those who committed atrocities, massacres, summery executions, rape and pillage in the colonies they claimed to be civilizing. It is just the difference in quantitative intensity on the same qualitative continuum. The US is no different.

We had to destroy the village in order to save it,” an American Major told reporter Peter Arnett in Vietnam in 1968.

The Rogers of Europe would never condemn as ‘terrorists‘ the American Indians for killing the settlers who were stealing their land, livelihoods and exterminating them, nor would they accuse the Jews for fighting back in the Warsaw Ghetto. But to apply the same standards to the Palestinians is a step too far. It just goes against “our shared values“.

They are doing their best to grip to the tattered ‘values’ they have always proclaimed; values which may have existed in the minds of many of the US soldiers who were sent to fight America’s wars but certainly not in the minds of those who sent them to fight in the first place.

So, thank you Trump for clarifying things, for pulling open the curtains so the last hold-outs can see the Great Oz and his true machinery. Trump has destroyed their illusions. And I am not one to systematically criticize Trump. Like a broken watch that has the exact time twice a day, Trump often speaks truth too: “Ukraine was a NATO provoked war and unnecessary,” even though he conveniently forgets it was armed, trained and financed by NATO under his watch; “politicians are bought off by lobbies and big money“; “Clinton works for Wall Street” even though Trump admitted in 2016 she was also working for him; “Iraq was a senseless war“; etc.

My question is not whether the US always had a fascist streak behind its ‘liberal’ veneer, but rather, why are they stripping the enamel and going full blown fascist today? Are the oligarchs that frightened of losing their number one parasite position in the world and at home? Or are they just too arrogant to bother learning the lessons their grandfathers had to learn the hard way?

  1. The U.S. has engaged in over 400 military interventions between 1776 and 2023, with half of these operations occurring since 1950 and over 25% occurring in the post-Cold War period. ↩︎
  2. An act of Congress passed in 1800 made it illegal for Americans to engage in the slave trade between nations, and gave U.S. authorities the right to seize slave ships which were caught transporting slaves and confiscate their cargo. Then the “Act Prohibiting the Importation of Slaves” took effect in 1808. ↩︎
  3. In 1816, a group of white Americans founded the American Colonization Society (ACS) to deal with the “problem” of the growing number of free blacks in the United States by resettling them in Africa. The resulting state of Liberia would become the second (after Haiti) black republic in the world at that time. ↩︎
  4. “My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, …” excerpt from Abraham Lincoln’s Aug. 23, 1862 letter to Horace Greely. ↩︎
  5. I would really like to take Germany to task for enabling the Israeli genocide of Palestinians but that is not in the scope of this paper.. Germany furnishes a full third of Israel’s weapons and ammunition, including submarines. I am pretty sure the Germans know a genocide when they see one. ↩︎
