Somehow civilisational conflict between communities in France, notably between the overwhelmingly Zionist Jewish community, and the Banlieues youth of recent immigrant background with their own form of antisemitism is serving the interests of the hard, ‘identitarian’ right,’ and the Palestinian cause is paying the price.
Palestine deserves better than to be slaughtered on the alter of France’s civilisation divide.
Let me begin by insisting, no matter how much Jewish leaders claim the contrary, France is no more an antisemitic country than is the USA. French Jewish presence in positions of power and decision (finance, politics, administration, scholastic & science) far outweigh their numbers within the French population. Jews are not discriminated against in France, despite what ex-convict and US Ambassador Charles Kushner, may claim.
French politicians fight over front row seats at the annual CRIF Gala which is the organisation that pretends to represent all Jews in France, and which exercises great influence over French foreign policy towards Israel and the political agenda at home. Every year, it is the only time the French political class goes overboard to promote an ethnic cosmopolitanism and ‘tribal’ enclave, when other immigrant groups, especially Muslims, are publicly condemned for ‘separatism,’ including in the courts, for promoting their own identity.
It is not because you have antisemites in the country that the country is antisemitic. Just like it is not because you have only two Whites on the French football first string team that France is 90% of African origin.1
Strange Bedfellows
So, how do we explain that the French far right, historically very anti-Jewish, end up supporting Israel’s genocide against Palestinians and siding with Jewish claims of rampant antisemitism in France? Simple; their fear and distaste of all things Muslim, African and Arab, out-weigh their rejection of the Jews (for now).
My question is, why the Hell do you bring the Palestinians into the debate on the massive immigration to France of cultures and civilisations you believe are hostile to French civilisation and culture? Why would you support genocide in Palestine because you oppose massive Islamic immigration to France? The Palestinians deserve better.
French Jews are more than half Sephardic, medieval converts, known as Pieds Noirs today, who, unlike their Muslim counterparts in French colonial North Africa, were collectively granted French citizenship in 1870 and were granted priority and privilege by the colonisers in jobs to rule over North African Muslims. When the Arabs won their independence, the Berber Jews lost their ‘comfortable status’ and fled to France. They have a bone to pick with North African Muslim immigrants.2
Somehow, this spills over into their unconditional support for Israel and everything it does. They are, in general, extreme Zionists in the image of the current Israeli government. Their children rather serve in the IDF than the French Army. As the far right French nationalist and Berber Jewish pundit, now politician, Eric Zemmour, puts it: “They are not Jewish French. They are French Jews.” The difference between the adjective and the noun tells you what comes first. Hint: Israel.
Where the other antisemitism lies
When Paris Saint Germaine won the Champions League on May 30, 2026, the suburban youth in the banlieues had another pretext to riot. In their rampage, they were recorded yelling: “Fuck France! Free Palestine!.” That they are twice uprooted, as French conservative Philippe de Villiers puts it, once from the country of origin of the grandparents and parents and the culture they inherited, and once from the country they were born in and whose culture, traditions, and identity they reject and believe rejects them, is only part of the answer.
The migrants who came to France from the former colonies brought with them the memory of how they were treated by the ‘privileged Jews’ under French colonialism and have passed it down to the youth. That the Jewish community obviously is more successful and privileged, has greater sympathy and establishment support, doesn’t make anything better. The hate and hostility is deep, on both sides, and is passed on.3
I am sure these French Muslim youth are unaware that so many Palestinians are also Christians.
But that is beside the point. Why should France’s multi-ethic, multi-civilisational conflicts be thrown on the backs of the Palestinians?
Playing the false victim card
Part of the story lies in France’s guilt complex concerning Vichy’s behaviour during the Nazi occupation. The North African, Berber Jews, who neither suffered Nazi occupation, nor extermination, claim that catastrophe as their own so as to better promote their social status and protect Israel. This is a clear case of ‘stolen valor’ (not sure ‘valor’ is the right word) if ever there was one.4
If you want to find Jewish hostility to Zionism in France, you will have to go to the minority Ashkenazi community.
The French courts are ruling that criticising Israel is a form of antisemitism, a serious crime in France such as those calling for a Boycott of Israel condemned for antisemitism and inciting to racial hatred, a decision overturned by the European Court on free speech grounds. Or attempts in parliament to make criticism of Israel illegal, such as the Yadan Bill which has been shelved for the moment due to protests.
If you describe the Palestinian action of October 7, 2023, as a prison break or any other reference that suggests the Israelis had it coming, you will be charged with “apology for terrorism,” a criminal offense. Hamas and Hezbollah are officially ‘Terrorist Organisations‘ and any justification of their actions or existance is a crime.
In all of this civilisational and ethnic conflict of migrant peoples, the hard right, ‘identitarian,’ French have found their useful idiots in the North African Jewish Zionists. Their primary goal is to stop the rapid spread of the foreign, African, North African and Arab civilisation “challenging French heritage” in their own country.
A great number of the recent immigrant population clearly show, not only their refusal to “become French” but also their profound dislike of the host country and its heritage. This is what is making the job of the far right so much easier.
It is this French domestic fight, some say impending civil war (here and here) which is doing the Palestinians such a dis-service. Palestine deserves better than to be slaughtered on the alter of France’s civilisation divide.

- The former Senegalese Prime Minister and present Chair of the Senegalese National Assembly, Ousmane Songo, said before the Senegal – France football match at the 2026 World Cup that “whoever wins, it will be be Africa that defeats Africa” (« Quel que soit le vainqueur, c’est l’Afrique qui aura battu l’Afrique. ») in reference to the overwhelming presence of African origin players on the French team, most of whom have dual citizenship. ↩︎
- In this TIME article especially points 5 & 6. Here is an excerpt: “The influx from North Africa doubled the Jewish population in France and introduced new customs to the increasingly diverse Jewish community. The North African Jews were also more willing than their predecessors in France to engage in politics along ethnic lines, coming out in force, for example, in support of Israel during the 1967 Six-Day War.” ↩︎
- Public school has always been the tool France used to integrate and assimilate its migrant children. This worked through to the 1970s with White, European and Christian migrants (the last wave being Spanish and Portuguese escaping Franco and Salazar). It hasn’t worked with African and North African migrants these past 45 years. It is important to note that, under colonial rule, Africans and North Africans were little educated, often illiterate and unskilled and remained so when they migrated to France. They were not armed to help their children succeed. They were also given menial, labor intensive and low-paid work. What else could they do?. ↩︎
- For the manipulation of the holocaust by Zionism to promote Israel and demand reparations, I strongly recommend Norman Finkelstein’s The Holocaust Industry (2000). Another strong indictment of the Zionists and the creation of the ‘Jewish State‘ is Shlomo Sand’s The Invention of the Land of Israel (2012). ↩︎
Another major work by Professor Sand is his 2009 book The Invention of the Jewish People.
