Why do we Americans say “We” or “Us” or “Our” when referring to our country’s actions even when we deeply disagree with them while the Germans and French, for example, distance themselves from that collective identity when critical?

At least this is the case for my generation and my father’s generation, a period of European immigration and descendants of slavery with a solid Anglo-Saxon education and environment. I can’t say whether this is true of post 1970s immigration from other parts of the world.

Donald Trump is doing the world a great service. He has pulled back the curtain which had hidden from view for those in the West the true, evil, nature of the United States for all to see. At last, they understand what those on the receiving end of ‘America’s good will’ have known for decades.

I thought we shared common values,” said Roger (pronounced Ro-jay). “What is wrong with Americans?” the retired, well-read and highly educated French engineer asked me. “How could they elect such an ass like that?

What values are those?” I asked.

Tommie Smith shocked the world of sports when, after winning the two-hundred-meter Gold Medal in the 1968 Mexico City Olympics, he raised a black-gloved fist and bowed his head during the playing of the Star-Spangled Banner to protest discrimination in the United States. Third-placed African American, John Carlos, did the same.

But that display of protest to racism in America almost never happened. John Carlos “forgot to bring his black gloves” even though they had planned it before. So, Tommie gave Carlos his other glove and that is why Tommie has his right gloved fist raised while Carlos his left.

I question to this day what is the reason for the possibility he forgot his gloves in the first place,” Tommie told reporters of the Anglo-American Press Association on June 11th. “We all have flawed minds, but I feel if you have events such as this, you can’t forget.”

FDR, the three-part series on The History Channel, is a must see historical documentary with a wealth of archive illustrations. But it glosses over and mostly ignores many of FDR’s real motivations and actions to get the United States into war and to rule the world.

Paris, February 24, 2023: Socrates George Kazolias– The Collective West are dead wrong to be jubilating over the UN vote calling on Russia to withdraw behind the “internationally recognized borders” of Ukraine.

But before the jingoists in the West celebrate too loudly that the imperialist powers of the US and Europe got a majority of countries to vote in favor of Germany’s proposed resolution, let me remind you that these are the same countries the ‘Collective West’ bullied, threatened, and bribed into backing the invasion of Iraq, the occupation of Afghanistan, the brutal aggressions of Yemen, Serbia, Libya, Syria, just to mention a few.

This is an abstract from a long and on-going discussion I am having with an American friend on the ‘misconceptions’ of what is happening in Ukraine and on Putin and Russia. I am convinced Russia is on the right side of history here.

This is a response to a correspondence I am having with a good friend who seems to believe we are the good guys in the Ukraine mess. As I try to explain, we have never been the good guys. It doesn’t mean the others are but I am more concerned with what we are doing wrong. Please leave a comment at the end.

Socrates George Kazolias, Paris France: I know it is hard to accept but the $1 billion verdict against Alex Jones is a very serious attack on free speech. Yes, what he said in his Sandy Hook Massacre denial was untrue, hideous, and hurtful. But the First Amendment allows us to lie and hurt people’s feelings. What we are not allowed to do is slander and libel. (more on this below).

Cabals and conspiracies exist and should not be shunned aside because of Q-crazies. Stephan Wertheim’s book “Tomorrow the World: The Birth of U.S. Global Supremacy” (Harvard, 2020), illustrates exhaustively that the blueprint of everything evil the U.S. has done in the world over the past 80 years, was devised in the highest circles of U.S. power between 1939 and Pearl Harbor.

What is baffling is that so many who are ready to condemn American aggression and folly in Vietnam, Iraq, or Afghanistan, still try to find justification for the U.S. as a defender of some elusive “liberty” which required 500,000 people to be killed in a military coup in Indonesia, a brutal dictatorship installed in Iran which led to the Islamic Republic, up to four million killed in Vietnam, a million in Iraq and the list is endless.

I didn’t like Biden as vice-President and I won’t like him as President. I also believe Trump must go; that he is a danger to America and to world peace, a compulsive liar with no capacity for empathy who favours nepotism over merit and pardons his criminal friends and the list goes on. The question is, do the Democrats have to cheat and play dirty to win?
